Ancient seeds available for the project
Complexively 146 seeds from 13 archaelogical sites were collected
Sites covered ages from neolitic to medieval time
Number of total available seeds for each site was variable (from 1 to >200)
Ancient samples were subjected both to aDNA extraction for a paleogenomics analysis as well as to
morphometric characterizations togheter with modern samples (sourced from CREA) as comparison
aDNA extractions and WGS library production
Besides WGS libraries from aDNA we also produced 79 DNA libraries from a panel of modern local varieties from same italian regions (Veneto, Emilia Romagna and Friuli) not yet characterized.
Sample were collected either from CREA-VE collection or alternative sources (by UNIVR and UNIBO).
The aim was to enlarge the panel of diversity for comparisons and aid genetic relationships detection following aDNA WGS library sequencing.
